10 years later, Lake Wales 'junk home' gets the once-over

Code Enforcement continues to clear massive amounts to debris from a home neighbors call a junk yard.

Guys Davis says the city dump is cleaner than his neighbor's home.

"There are rats, roaches, everything,"said Davis who lives right next door to 3300 Preston Street in Lake Wales.

Davis watched as Polk County's Code Enforcement cleaned for 8 hours. They removed used tires, scrap metal, and tons of unused items.

"Snakes, rats, I don't know what it is gonna crawl out of here," said Sherry Sheffield with Code Enforcement.

Sheffield says they have fined the home owner for the past 10 years. Recently, the county got approval by a judge to clean out the mess.

They hired two crews at $7500 and realized it will take two days to finish the job..."
