Dozens of animals were seized this week from what Mississippi Humane Society officials classified as a puppy mill in Pearl River County.
About 20 of the 130 dogs were taken to the Mississippi Animal Rescue League in Jackson, where they'll wait to find happy homes. The rest of the dogs were taken to animal shelters in various parts of the U.S.
Humane Society officials said the dogs were being bred in poor, unsanitary conditions at a home in Pearl River County.
"For puppy mills, the owners of the puppy mills, it's all about the dollar," said Debra Boswell, of the MARL. "When they look at those dogs, they do not see little living beings who need kindness and care and love."..." More
