Paws Along the River, also known as the Warren County Humane Society, works to meet that high standard when animal owners can't or won't.
As humane officers with the Society, Karen Kolos and Tera Darts see first hand the aftermath of animal cruelty hundreds of times a year.
Despite regularly having to seize animals from bad situations as part of their job, the two agree education is the best defense we can offer to those creatures that cannot speak out to defend themselves.
