42 cats found in hoarder's apartment

By: Eddie Garcia

Another terrible cat-hoarding case has hit Albuquerque.
This week more than 40 cats were rescued from deplorable conditions but more than half have died.
"42 cats came in and 24 were euthanized for severe respiratory infection," said veterinarian Deidre Grinenko.
The Westside Animal shelter said the living conditions posed obvious threats to the cats.
The extent of how bad the hoarding case is still to be determined – the Safe City Strike Force can't even get into the apartment because the tenants are being evicted and are moving out.
Officials will get a better glimpse once the residents are gone.
As for the cats that survived, it's a day-to-day struggle and some may still be put down..."  More
