40 cats rescued from hoarding situation



40 cats in one house -- that's what police found when they went to a Mesa home to check on the woman who lives there.
All 40 cats were taken to the Maricopa County Animal Care and Control West Shelter.
family member called the county about the hoarding situation.
Many of the animals were suffering from health problems. Of the 40, 16 were kittens and 3 were newborns.
Authorities are now monitoring them for treatment.
Police say the woman who was keeping the cats as pets may not have understood she was hurting them. The homeowner may be in stages of dementia..."  Link & video
