Anderson woman evicted for animal hoarding


As temperatures increased in Central Indiana this week, so did the smell neighbors noticed from an Anderson woman’s home.

Anderson officials confiscated 28 dogs and cats from a woman’s home in the 2000 block of Kerrwood Drive Tuesday, 24-Hour News 8’s news partner, The Herald Bulletin , reports.

City officials evicted 87-year-old Clara West from her home after complaints about the smell coming from it. Investigators took 19 dogs and nine cats from the property, though struggled to stay inside the house for more than 15 minutes at a time because of the stench.

Anderson’s Animal Protect League president said feces and urine covered all areas of the home.

Local ordinances call for residents to have a kennel license for more than four animals in a home. City officials are now determining whether it’ll be necessary to demolish the home. The elderly woman is staying with a friend..." More
