BOWDOIN, Maine -- Authorities in the town of Bowdoin call it one of the worst cases of animal hoarding they have seen: an elderly man living in squalid conditions with dozens of cats, some of which were dead.

The man who lived in the home was hospitalized two weeks ago. An animal control officer went into the home Wednesday evening and said he found horrible conditions. Cats and kittens were throughout the house, even inside the washing machine. There was trash and feces everywhere and an almost unbearable smell..." More & video
