Roughly 150 dogs removed from a Floyd County kennel on suspicion of abuse will be returned after a jury decided the animals were not treated cruelly.
Last week, a Randall County jury found Alpha Tex Kennel owners Mark and Sandra Smith did not abuse the dogs.
“Obviously we’re happy with the verdict, but we still have a lot that needs to be worked out,” said Jessica Casenave Skinner, one of the Plainview-based attorneys representing the Smiths.
Don Feare, a private attorney from Arlington, appointed to represent Floyd County, could not be reached for comment.
Floyd County Sheriff Paul Raissez also did not immediately return a phone call Monday afternoon.
