Woman, Schenectady landlord face animal cruelty charges

A well-known Schenectady property owner has been charged after underweight dogs were seized from a breeding kennel he owns in Otsego County last week.

State Police charged Frank M. Popolizio Sr., 65, with 49 counts of cruelty to animals. Corrinne Kindt, 26, of Esperance, the manager of South Side Stables, was charged with seven counts of cruelty to animals.

Police and the SPCA made separate visits to the kennel after receiving a complaint in December and found thin dogs. On Jan. 13, both groups visited together and found the same conditions.

Over the next few days, 26 dogs were seized, including German Shorthaired Pointers, Rhodesian Ridgebacks, Weimaraners and Vizslas.

Popolizio told the Times Union last week that a former employee made the complaint to police, and he believed that "jealous breeders" were spreading the story over the Internet..."  More
